Senior Choir members are 9th grade students through adults. No prior singing experience is necessary. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary. If you are interested in joining us, contact the church office.
The Trinity Choir has a long tradition of bringing voices together to create beautiful music.
But did you know?
The Lutheran tradition of chorale music is prominent worldwide. Because of choral directors such as F. Melius Christiansen who directed the St. Olaf Choir and his sons Paul J. and Olaf, who directed the Concordia and St. Olaf choirs in their illustrious careers, the Midwest is a hotbed of some of the world’s best choral music, which in turn ripples out to the rest of the world.
The Trinity Choir has experienced the benefits of this solid tradition since it began. Many of its leaders and choir members have studied under those who’ve sung under or with the Christiansens. We’ve a long tradition of solid choral music, and we’ve persevered.
Past directors of the Trinity Choir include Sverre Solheim, David Morken, John Hustad, Les Torgerson, Kristin Buckley, Linda Samuelson, Vi Barr, Vanessa Martell, Marie Longo, Mindy Helle, and Jane Anderson.
Jane Anderson sang under John Hustad and David Morken (graduate of Concordia; sang under Paul Christiansen) while in middle and high school, both in church and at school. She also sang under Dr. Paul Brandvik at Bemidji State University. Dr. Brandvik studied under Paul Christiansen at Concordia. The American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota presented him with their highest honor, the F. Melius Christiansen Award for lifetime achievement in choral music.
So, you see there is a long history of choral music in our area, and we are and have been a part of this intricate web of musicians for decades.
Would you like to help us continue this tradition of fine choral music? We can always use more singers. If you can carry a tune, we’d love to include you. You do not need to know how to read music. While we love perfect attendance, we know that’s not practical in people’s lives today. If you can attend all or some of our gatherings, we appreciate each and everyone who gives as much time and talent as they are able to this very worthwhile tradition. Added bonus: it’s a fun and inclusive social group.
We meet Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:00 p.m.; we sing two Sundays each month.
Make a joyful noise! Sing unto the Lord!
